Meccan, 19 verses
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Read in the name of your Lord, the One Who created,
created the human being from a (dangling, clinging, and leach like) blood clot.
Read and (know that) your Lord is the most noble,
the One Who taught by the pen.
He taught the human being what he did not know.
No way, the human being shall certainly rebel
if he sees himself as having no need.
Indeed the return is to your Lord.
Have you seen the one who forbids
a servant (of God) when he prays?
Have you considered if he (the servant) is on the guidance
or he orders to be cautious (of God)?
Have you considered if he (that one) denied and turned away?
Did he not know that God sees (everything)?
No way, if he does not stop (this behavior) We shall grab him by the forelock,
a sinful lying forelock.
Then he should call on his peers,
(and) We are going to call on the guards of hell.
No way, do not obey him, and show humbleness and get close (to God).
